Miniature / Toy Australian Shepherds
(AUSSIES)
Wes and I have always LOVED aussies. We raised standard size aussies several years ago and they are probably our favorite breed. Unfortunatly when our old original female got killed we lost our desire to raise any more pups and eventually we lost that line entirely.
Since we have always loved the aussies so much, we decided to try the miniature and toy size aussies, which is a fairly new breed to see how much we like them.
Needless to say, we both LOVE these new dogs. They have the heart, try, intelligence, the overall thickness and bone density of a full size aussie, But the added value of being a smaller size dog.
PERFECT for house dog or dog that can go with you anywhere outside, inside, on long trips in the car, or working stock.
They really are the best of both worlds.
Country of Origin: The Australian Shepherd does not actually originate in Australia. It is believed that some Basque farmers brought ancestors of these dogs with them when they emigrated to Australia, then subsequently to the United States during the 1849 California gold rush. However, the breed as it is known today was developed in the American Southwest over the next few decades. Breeding during this period was mainly focused on ability—speed, agility, and endurance. Australian Shepherds became popular pets after they were featured as rodeos performers in the 1950’s. The Miniature Australian Shepherd was created by selectively breeding small Australian Shepherds.

Size: The Miniature Australian Shepherd has a shoulder height of 14-18 inches and weighs 17-40 lbs.
Toy Australian Shepherds have a shoulder height of 13 inches and under.

Coat: The Miniature Australian Shepherd’s coat ranges from medium to long, with a dense undercoat. It can be straight or slightly wavy, and is highly weather resistant. The Miniature Australian Shepherd can be black, red, red merle, or blue merle. All may have white markings or tan points.

Character: The Miniature Australian Shepherd is intelligent and eager to learn. It is relaxed, loyal, and devoted, bonding closely with family.

Temperament: The Miniature Australian Shepherd is a great companion for children and other pets, especially if socialized as a puppy. Miniature Australian Shepherds are affectionate and kindhearted.

Training: The Miniature Australian Shepherd is fun to train because it learns quickly and easily. Aussies are unusually eager to please and adept at a wide variety of sports and games, such as herding, Flyball, and agility competitions.

Activity: The Miniature Australian Shepherd is an excellent companion for people that are active, particularly those who recreate outdoors. Miniature Australian Shepherds are especially popular in dog agility competitions and other dog sports. Aussies will do okay in an apartment if sufficiently exercised.
CS Blue Skye-ASDR Registered. GORGEOUS blue merle TOY female with two marbled blue eyes.
She is the absolute cutest aussie and stands about 13 inches tall, also around 20 lbs. She is as broad as she is tall and is so thick boned and stocky. She is not as much of a up in your face kinda dog, but she is very loyal and is content to be laying close by or watching for possible intruders. She is a true friend and always wants to help. She has quickly become one of my favorites and I am proud to own her.

Waggin Tails Pure Country(Skid)-  Black Tri Male
Isn't he just the cutest thing!
Skid's pedigree is completely full of Championship Bloodlines. 6 out of 7 dogs on his top side were either Champions or International Champions. He carries the bloodlines of Pleasant Woods Pure Country, Waggin' Tail Mr. Pickle, Bing Bang Boom, Celebrity Ward's Wendy, and Rafter Bottle Wrangler on top.

To go with that great pedigree, Skid is a
TOY sized aussie and is 12 inches tall and weighs 16 lbs. Let me tell you though, that he doesn't lack for any working dog ability or intelligence. He is as intelligent as any I have ever had and he is ferocious at playtime. He has the fullest haircoat I have ever seen and looks like a show dog year round.  Also Skid is off of a very small toy sized male, and Skid consistently produces small toy sized pups off of any of my females.

These pics are of Skid at 8 weeks old.
Here are pics of my past Aussie Pups!
Skid February 2009
Look at how much thickness that Skid has put on these past few months. He really has filled out and thickened up. He is GORGEOUS. We are so very proud of him.

CS Fancy Lil Miss-ASDR Registered. GORGEOUS Red merle TOY female with two solid blue eyes. She is 12 inches tall and weighs around 20 lbs.  She was a impulse buy and now we sure are glad we bought her. She is thick and stocky. Great bone size and loves to work. She is adorable and has such a cute little face.
CS Simone ~ Simone is a red merle with two speckled blue eyes. She is by Stormy( a past 15" red tri male of mine) and Cowgirl(listed below). Simone is an excellent mother, and has a sweet gentle personality. She is quiet and calm. She stands 14" tall.
Artistry's Gone Country(Rodeo)-  Red Tri Male registered with ASDR. We love him like a child. He is very outgoing, very playful, always happy, always loving - never mad, sulled up, or pouting.
Quite the card and always a ham for the camera! He always makes folks smile :~)

Rodeo is off of two very small toy parents, one being red merle and one being blue merle. He has some show dogs in his parentage and comes from a long line of classy, gorgeous, TOY aussies.

Rodeo is 11 inches tall and weighs 13 lbs. He is super athletic, can run as fast as any dog I have ever seen. He also loves to jump and play as you can see in the pics. He never meets a puppy he can't get down and play with and he is never aggresive to younger dogs.
Rodeo loves to "pose" for the camera.
Rodeo loves to play with the various puppies I have in the house. He is always careful with them and is like a big brother to them, teaching them the ropes around here:)
